Weekend Challenge: Raise Your Laugh Quota!

Add caption
Often, we head into the weekend still carrying our load of responsibilities and "to-do's" with us.  This weekend, cross everything off your "to-do" list, and go find something silly to laugh about!  Better yet, include your friends and family in this silly quest!  But even if you just laugh out loud with yourself in the mirror, you will boost your endorphins and infection fighting antibodies, and increase your positive mood.

Laughter, the Best Medicine

Emma, one of my six nieces ...
You may enjoy this great article in Yes magazine:  9 Simple Steps to Improve Your Health (without going to the gym).  Number One on the list is Laugh to Your Heart's Delight!  Emotions are contagious, and laughter is so fun to spread!  I will always have fond memories of the day my grandma, my mom, my sister and I sat around the table laughing until tears fell down when my grandma told the simple joke, "It's raining cats and dogs."  "I know, I just stepped on a poodle."  It's not a funny joke.  Not really.  Not THAT funny, but my grandma started laughing so hard she couldn't get the words out, and the rest of us couldn't help but join in.

What will you do to spread laughter today?

Hardships = Strength

"Hardship, in forcing us to exercise greater patience and forbearance in daily life, actually makes us stronger and more robust. From the daily experience of hardship comes a greater capacity to accept difficulties without losing our sense of inner calm. Of course, I do not advocate seeking out hardship as a way of life, but merely wish to suggest that, if you relate to it constructively, it can bring greater inner strength and fortitude."  --Dalai Lama

Wisdom from the DL! Challenge for today: for each "hardship", first ask yourself if it is just an inconvenience or a true hardship. Second, look to see which value of yours it's bumping up against. Did someone make you angry? What is it that you love so much that generates that anger? Not enough money for bills? What do you spend the little you have on? What does that show you about your love or passion? Third, try to find the blessing in the challenge. Really try. It's there if you look deep enough. What lesson is in it? What value is it pointing to? What might need to change in your life? Where do you need more strength or forbearance?

Weekend Challenge: Get Inspired!

Create a list of things (or people) that inspire you. Then choose one from your list, and take a small action step towards manifesting something similar in your own life.

Here's an example of something(s) that inspire me!
