"Hardship, in forcing us to exercise greater patience and forbearance in
daily life, actually makes us stronger and more robust. From the daily
experience of hardship comes a greater capacity to accept difficulties
without losing our sense of inner calm. Of course, I do not advocate
seeking out hardship as a way of life, but merely wish to suggest that,
if you relate to it constructively, it can bring greater inner strength
and fortitude." --Dalai Lama
Wisdom from the DL! Challenge for today: for each "hardship",
first ask yourself if it is just an inconvenience or a true hardship.
Second, look to see which value of yours it's bumping up against. Did
someone make you angry? What is it that you love so much that generates
that anger? Not enough money for bills? What do you spend the little
you have on? What does that show you about your love or passion?
Third, try to find the blessing in the challenge. Really try. It's
there if you look deep enough. What lesson is in it? What value is it
pointing to? What might need to change in your life? Where do you need
more strength or forbearance?
